Hi all,

40k bug has hit again and after long contemplation, i realised that blood axe kommandoes no longer have a hold on me... Then thru the thinking of polka dot colour schemes, crazy mad orks, and bouncing squigs, i realised that i was delving into a snakebite army klan list!

So behold my new Snakebite list, i present to you Chief Raging Bull and his boyz:

similar to my pink nid army, i am doing a quick simple build. Lots of mad conversions and very easy colour scheme! Target: 3 months!

Aftermath of Sporecon

Sporecon was my very 1st experience with other people aside from the usual gangs. It was a wonderful experience.

1st game with Chris and Quek was great. They brought laughter and a friendly competition amoung one another.

2nd game was with some other guy and Matthew. Although Matt wasn't really interested in the game, the other guy was some what a pro active player. Was great so far cause he was an Eldar player and gave me a few pointers.

The last game was totaly fucked. As mention to Joreen and Basil, if I ever see that Aaron guy on the streets, I do not mind practicing my Brazilian Ju Jitsu on his arse.

All in all, after all 3 lost, though enjoyable and lots of things I learnt, I discovered I'm not an eldar player. I learnt that I'm not really the wait around and shoot you down type of person. I rather go up and kill with a quick and easy way.

So I have decided that I will create a Chaos army. I'm already in the process of painting my Daemon Prince. Both shoulder pads and the non sword arm has been painted. Although I may not have the pictures now, I will take pictures of my progession and post it here for you to comment, biatch, rant or give feedbacks.

Till then, have a chaotic week ahead.

To all the participants of SPORECON 2010... congratulations on participating! I'm sure everyone walked away with many many experience points from this event. Wrong side of the bed also passed their endurance check from a lack of sleep + frustrating opponents. Everyone can lvl up already. An added congrats to Ben and Ju on winning a prize. Necromunda update

This guys got a nice website and also uses space hulk terrain pieces to represent a tunnel network? Talk about playing on multiple fronts! We could include a shared tunnel network map as well for necro, esp those using sewer holes.

On rules front, we were doing a few things wrong. Gonna write a short & simplified summary on shooting phase here.

1) Choosing who to Shoot -must pick closest one!
2) If hit, person is pinned! Pinned means loses turn to get up, unless there is a friendly model within 2" at start of your turn, then roll Initiative to try to get up. (Spyers ignore this rule)
3) If wounded, immediately roll the wound effect for each wound received. 1 =flesh wound, 2-5 down, 6 = out. Note high impact wpns str 7 and above (like heavy plasma gun, melta gun etc) gets you out on a 5 or 6.

Necromunda terrain

Hi folks,

To those who know, we have new 40k City of death terrain and want to build it up for necromunda. I was thinking of getting a sprawling claustrophobic environment with multiple gantries and levels, rather than standalone buildings COD usually produce.

Some sites below with reference. Those assisting in building feel free to browse, share your concept ideas, and concerns. Im thinking buying foamcore(?) for the walls, wiregrating and barrels for deco. Throw in the COD terrain and mix.

The return of the 40k bug...

The paint/modelling bug is coming back, no doubt due to the upcoming release of the new nids... here's what we have in store from GW...

The Trygon, orignially a forgeworld product, now it has made its way into mainstream GW products... the nids first proper answer to a 'super-vehicle' which most other races possess such as a landraider or monolith...

New all plastic kits for the gargoyle and ravener broods...

The newest kid on the block... the venomthrope. No clue what this one does yet... have to wait for the codex to be released...

A new variant from the biovore genus - Pyrovore. It launches acid projectiles, thus we won't be seeing floating spore mines in the game... just a good ol' fire and forget bombardment...

Lastly, the new Hiveguard. Based on the model, definitely another tyrant guard variant... but equipped for range - two str8 artillery shots according to the GW site... more details on this fella when the codex comes out as well....

Generals,

Last transmission from terran world EPT 3q193w was received more than 4 months ago. Silence is all we hear now.

Word is that, this world holds many secrets. One being a new tyranid colony is rumbling and growing in size, as the current warworlds of this planet grow old with mundane work and a complacent defence force.

Local seamstress have reported on an odd finding, "an increase in the disappearance of buttons, the purple ONES keep going missing!"

Recent mining activies near the pyramids of Old Dirnead also reveal that this planet history may far exceed its history books. Professor Snite, leading scientist has been carbon dating relics such as pots, vases and a rather unqiue green orb which may be from the lost city.

Marine Commander Joseph AwNotagain has command on the outpost on this terran world. 4 months ago, Commander Joseph led an expedition of marines to the East Hiasq Moutains Region with a tip-off at the local harlem of cultist sighting at the Eastern Ledge. No one has yet return.

- Party found out the source behind the gem shortage, and took out a twinked Ettercap party who was helping an 'Azurei' smuggle gems. They also noted that shipment would be made every two weeks at midnight near the east sewer entrance of the city (you're in cormyr if u forgot). To Azurei's Imp familar, who had one less hand and one less ear.
- Bas followed Avenee to meet an acquaintance, Zarala, a necromancer who would likely buy his griffon feathers.
- Front page news: Strange Device found in King's Wood. Held under observaton by King's Court's Mage.

(Hurrah! isnt it great that i decided not to stick any arms on for my gaunts till dex is out?)

DOTA? League of Legends!

I know we all have been busy with other games in our life. But have you ever felt like having a few rounds of DOTA? Guess what...I have found a new game.

Its call League of Legends. Its from the creators of DOTA. I heard it from a friend that the game is much better than DOTA and its even more fun.

I have downloaded the game and will be giving it a try. FYI, the game is free. Just need to create an account and download the game file. Size is about 506MB.

Should give it a try. A good replacement of DOTA.

If you've been directed to this blog, you may have been invited to the Three Horseshoes Pub (Ben's house) for a Halloween Murder Mystery Night.

Here's some info on how to play the game, and what your character role is. Read and enjoy....

Playing the Game
To play one of our murder mysteries requires no special props or acting abilities, just a willingness to have fun and immerse yourself in the character. Guests do not need to study or memorize any scripts or other information about the scenario. The mystery game is designed so that the individuals who are playing will mingle around asking questions about each others character and perhaps about any other information that the players may have gathered so far. As the game progresses each player will gather more and more information and at the end of the allotted time they need to sift through what they think is fact and what they think is fiction to make
their choice on who they think is the true murderer.

Guest Instructions
During the party, each of you will be given clues. The clues provide all the information required to unlock the mystery. Each clue is designated as a clue to be CONCEALED or a clue to be REVEALED. Clues to be CONCEALED are generally information about your character that you conceal until directly challenged. You should then use the information to defend yourself. However, the clue to be CONCEALED might also contain information that you need to conceal completely until instructed
otherwise. Clues to be REVEALED are generally accusations you make against other characters or questions you need to ask of other characters. Follow the instructions on each clue, listen and have fun.
As the game progresses, you will gather more and more information and at the end of the game you will need to sift through fact and fiction to decide who is the murderer.

The characters can be played to suit the comfort zone of each player. If you like the spotlight or enjoy role playing, immerse yourself in your character’s persona and live the night as you think they would. You may even decide to exaggerate your character’s personality for even more effect. While ad-libbing (to an
extent!) is encouraged, a straight reading of the clue is also perfectly acceptable.
There are only a few simple rules to follow when playing our games.
1. Stay in Character. (Costumes are highly recommended)
2. Hide/Stretch the truth, but don't lie!
3. When accused, defend yourself and then shift attention away from yourself.
4. Interrogate others.
The game takes approximately 3 hrs to play, depending on the number of people playing.

Warhammer started out for our group as a DOS game space hulk (below). Through it, we found out about warhammer 40,000 and rest is literally history...

We got our hands on the board game version, Space Hulk (1989)...

In the late 1990s, i won a copy of the 2nd edition of Space Hulk (1996) in a junior painting competition. Again, it was a hit amongst our gaming group...

Today, I got my hands on a limited edition release of the game that started it all: space hulk (2009)...

The detail of the models has come a long way as well. From the weird looking 1989 models to the fine detailed 2009 version...

Nids: a working post

Yeah so i got the urge to build a cute-nids army, with fake plastic flowers and astroturff for base, and hello kitty-esq stickers to adorn my carapaces.

Now im building up the proposed list, trying to sqeeze in as much as i can for what i want. Bas, appreciate any inputs since u resident nid expert.

Stands about roughly 1k estimate right about now. Playstyle would be walk up and bash, and pose cutely along the way. -5 psychic scream ftw. Its a swarm cute army prob operationally unit C3L2 with excuse fearless excuse tanks. :) lol any inputs to make them PES A?

Dnd: The Gem Shortage Wrapup

After rescueing Genevieve De Guarna, a noble of a merchant trading house, (not forgetting retrieving cartons of uncut gems in the process), Lady De Guarna invites the party to her home to rest, and gives them a cool 2000 gp & xp as a reward for saving her life. (bas included too, xp/gp gain via comm chatter)

She then asks what the PCs intend to do with all those gems, and whether they would like to work for her house; she has lots of connections and can help if PC's help her achieve her business objectives.

As they walk on their way to the De Guarna house, a town crier selling the local daily news hollers something that catches the PC's eyes.

"Extra Extra! Read all about it! Lost Gryphonne found in King's Woods tied beside a large metallic contraption! Rider still missing! Classified as a wondorous device, the artefact is now being held by the Court Mage's Council for investigation"

Meanwhile, Basil and Avenee (the Assimar Mage) are heading off to the graveyard to meet Avenee's on-the-fringe-of-illegal and rebellious friend, Zarala. Basil hopes to sell said gryphonne feathers/innards to Zarala for a quick buck...

What do the PC's do?

DND Post Action Review

Ok, so Dnd went quite well the other day, lots of laughs, lots of groans (dispel magic on the password? lol) , perhaps lasted an hour too long and we all got tired :) We should aim for 4-5hrs sessions max :)

Well the plot is well and truely coming along now, and some of you can guess where this is all leading to already. My own observations are that ppl like using guns, and they prefer to get bystanders out of the way so you can go trigger happy. Getting split up, as said in tonnes and tonnes of dnd advice books and via experience, is never a good thing. (unless rare instances where a PC has a specific agenda he doesnt want ppl to know, or when its do-or-die and no time to stick together).

Moving forward, time to get more inputs on what ppl have been liking so far, and want to see more of.
a) I want more loot and more shopping options to upgrade
b) I want to go through the main plot faster
c) I want more side quests (which are usually short, sweet and earn $)
d) I want complex puzzles

Well, a little update.

Got a new job. A non shift work which means I got more time to do lots of other things. Ben animation which I own him so badly. Fixing lots of other people laptop (I charge for consulting and fixing. Ask me what's the price and I will tell you personally). WoWing and last not but not least...painting.

1stly, would like to thank everyone for getting me an Eldar Fire Prism. Rest assure, I will focus shot everyone. But, I'm gonna but that on hold for the time being. A close brother of mine, one who isn't into 40k, bought me a Daemon Prince model kit.

As promise, I will paint that 1st and I will show it to him. And I will be taking this chance to do some converting. One idea I have in mind is to add a huge kick arse blaster as an arm.

Feel free to throw some ideas so that I can play around with it.

Ok guys, im doing a poll on DnD. Got the feeling that you guys like the futuristic world and may want to linger there for a while (my initial plan was to keep you on the heels of Nicolai). As its dnd, i'll describe it:

"The party hurries back to the ship to find out that Nicolai had damaged the ship engine and cloaking systems, but had missed the special sensor array installed to follow energy traces of timewarp travel. With the Materia synthesiser, you could effect temporary repairs and chase after nicolai (while the trail is hot), or lug back to Dominia for proper repairs and refitting, possibly losing the trail in the process"

So the question is, do you guys:

a) Repair the ship and chase after Nicolai,
b) Go back to Dominia for debrief and R&R

Let me know party decision so i can plan next quest.

Harlow all,

Just to give you guys a visual. Im making monster tokens for our virtual table top for DND (using tokentool -bless the makers of this programme). Basically, as you can see, it makes a token avatar of your character from any photo available. So appreciate if you can go find your own picture that you would like to be your PC, and i will make a token for you. (If you lazy or dont mind, i can provide the generic NPC tokens for you to use too)

Dnd Online Tabletop

Im loving this new programme Maptools, basically allows you to use any image as a dnd tabletop - no need for whiteboards and markers anymore! Coupled with those monster and creature tokens i bought online, we both have online figures and maps to play dnd! (Just need a laptop is all)

To give an idea of how dnd will work, here's 2 maps i just exported using maptools. One is a big city-area, which PC's can slowly walk thru, where the DM can control what u can and cant see. In the 2nd pic, you can see how i have used tokens. It represents the Elf meeting 2 trolls in a room, and a fight is about to break out!
PC's can control their characters with the mouse (maptools calculates your movement in 5ft like dnd so no worries), while i control the trolls (via a dm-only laptop).
Just need to connect the 2 coms and we r good to roll :)

The last 2 weeks has been spent finalising the colour scheme of my next collection and i've picked the colours from the cover image of the codex itself...

I did the colour test on an old Sister Superior model that i had lying around... still kept in the unopened blister pack for many years. I'm quite satisfied with the colours and now i await the rest of the models, since i have to mail order them... slow and steady wins the race...

This weekend saw another game where the Witch Hunters made their debut amongst our group. The witch hunters fielded were:

HQ - Canoness
HQ - Priest with 5 Strom Troopers (Troops sqd)
3x Troops - 10 Battle Sisters with Rhino
2x Fast Attack - 6 Battle sisters with meltaguns with Immolator Transport
2x Heavy - 3 Penitent Engines
Heavy - Exorcist Tank

The game was hard fought with the necrons phasing out on turn 7. The special 'Acts of Divine Faith' really threw some surprises for both myself and my opponent e.g. invulnerable armour, AP1 flamers & bolters etc. My next collections awaits!...

Some highlights on what to expect from witch hunters on the gaming battlefield...

Penitent Engine: Walker with +d6" move (called 'Holy Rage' which not a run/fleet move), immune to stun & shaken results and has d6 attacks per engine. These babies cracked the monolith open with plethora of str 10 CCW hits the moment they contacted it. OUCH!...

Exorcist Tank: Range 48" Str 8 AP 1, Heavy d6 with front armour 13! This tank can potentially wipe a mega-armoured mob in 1 turn with good rolls!

Immolator Tank: Twin-Heavy flamers with carrying capacity of 6. It can move the full 12" and still fire the flamers... and of course disembark the troops for even more shooty nasties!

SPORECON '09 40K - Battle

Welcome to the final installment of SPORECON ’09. Today I’ll be covering the photos taken during the battles as well as try my best to describe the fights accurately as they transpired.

Due to low battery which started dying on me sometime during the first round of battle, I didn’t manage to take as many pics as I wanted to. Especially the fights during round 2 and 3.

Battle 1
Ju:

Ju's first opponent fielded a Chaos Space Marine army 9 Obliterators. (cheese anyone?) The pic on the left shows Ju's reserves half. The right pic shows Ju and his opponents units at the end of turn 1. Ju achieved some good deepstriking, but perhaps getting a little too close to the enemy. He managed to take out an obliterator.

Upper left shows the start of the next turn. Obliterators leave the building and made their way towards the Herald of Slaanesh. Abaddon advances towards Ku'gath.

Upper right shows that the 2 remaining obliterators are further joined by an additional squad of 3 oblits which deep striked in.

Lower left shows the rhino closest to the screamers has disembarked its unit of plague marines next to them which promptly proceed to thin down the screamers to one model.

Lower right shows the the CSM turn at the shooting phase. If I remembered clearly, Ku'gath got lashed forward. The CSM player assaulted the nurglings with the plague marines and started squish the little pus balls with their boots. Ku'gath got stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Left shows the anniliation of the pus balls. While the plague marines were busy stomping the nurglings, Ku'gath gets pwned by the despoiler and the daemon prince. Right shows the group of 3 oblits split charging the last nurgling base as well as the Herald of Slaanesh. The other 2 oblits also join in and wipe the herald.

Ju's reserves have been coming in slowly and piecemeal, and ju had been suffering huge casualties. The pic above shows at last the arrival of Ju's daemonettes together with his daemon prince. The last screamer tries to pull off a final snack on the rhino, but was unsuccessful.

Close to the end of the game. Ju tried to push for a tie in controlling objective markers. pushing his horrors towards an objective. At the same time, he used a fiend of slaanesh to tie up a squad of plague marines and prevent them from making their way towards another objective. Things were looking good until the CSM daemon prince flew towards the horrors and lashed them AWAY from the objective. Thus denying the chance of a tie.

Adrian:

Poor Adrian was unprepared for his fight with the Dark Eldar. Having never fought them before. He had no info on "knowing your enemy" and no clue on target priority here. I still remember his stressed out face before the fight. What a classic look! :p

I spent little time at Adrian's fight but from what i can gather, both armies deployed in opposite quarters and far away from each other. Adrian did pretty well early game. From range he shot down one of the dark eldar transports. The above 3 pic shot is a view of the battlefield from left to right on turn 2.

Imagine my shock when i came back later and Adrian told me that he was being out ranged and STD (shot to death). Something about dark eldar giving a -6 inch to enemies shooting. Left pic shows a somewhat desperate charge by the wraiths against the dark eldar ships. Right pic shows the outcome of their charge when i returned the following turn. That's Adrian's casualty tray for you. What -6 inchs to fire and a crap load of disintegrater fire will do to your army.

Outcome of battle was that Adrian got phased out in turn 5. All he had left prior to phase out was the deceiver and a squad of warriors. And the Dark Eldar lost 2 transports if I'm not mistaken.

Battle 2
Ju:

This battle was a clash of the daemon forces! Both armies Chaos Daemons. Both seeking to earn the favor of the Dark Gods of Chaos. Ju's opponent fielded a monstrous creature heavy army. 2 daemon princes, Fateweaver, a bloodthirster and a soulgrinder.

Fateweaver army strat was to send all the winged monstrous creatures together (which meant everything but the soulgrinder). And with Fateweaver nearby, all will benefit from from reroll on ANY saves. This nigh unstopable force was doing the damage throughout the game as it assaulted right into Ju's forces in his table quater. Ju finally plucked the 2 headed chicken on the last one or two turns, and had sent in his flamers to take out the opponent's plaguebearers that were camping an objective. But some plaguebearers survived, and the opponent's soulgrinder came to crush the flamers.

Meanwhile, even with fateweaver dead, most of the other monstrous creatures were still very much alive. And in the last round, ju's aim to capture the objective at his area was foiled when a daemon prince assaulted his units. Another close match for Ju!

Adrian:

Adrian faced off Daemon hunters in this match. I'm not aware of the specifics here as I fell asleep. But Adrian won the game. :p

Battle 3
Ju:

Battle 3 had Ju facing off Lawrence's Deathskullz, in which Ju finally achieved his first victory.

Adrian:

Adrian had a cakewalk vs this Chaos Space Marine army. But his expression wasn't showing much enjoyment. Now maybe if his opponent played twice as fast, he'll be at the same speed as everyone else.

Ben:

Ben was facing Abdullah’s IG army this round, and was suffering from heavy fire until his mega-armored nob managed to touch the front line. Then it was IG buffet all the way. Even then, Abdullah performed a refuse flank on Ben while his nobs were creaming the IG frontline, and eventually won.

SPORECON '09 40K - Competing Armies

At long last I bring the long awaited update of the SPORECON '09 40K tournament. A thousand apologies to those who have been waiting in anticipation for the photos. So without further ado, here it is...

Armies Contesting:

The tourny saw about 30 strong armies competing for the title of strongest (or cheesiest). Most plentiful in demand were the Imperium's finest, the space marines.

Backing them up were several regiments of the Imperial Guard:

Raging war against the Space Marine forces were the traitorous fallen, the Chaos Space Marines. Hell bent on destroying their former brothers, they fielded numerous obliterators within their armies ready to blow all opposition away.

Drawn by bloodshed and promise of reward from their dark gods, two opposing daemon forces materialized from the warp. Each wholly believing that they were rightfully deserving of their patron's favors.

Daemonhost led by Fateweaver, Oracle of Tzeentch.

Daemonhost led by Ku'gath, the Plaguefather.

Apart from the daemons and heretics, other forces joined in the ongoing battle...

The Eldar, whose intentions are shrouded in mystery.

The Necrons, who seek to extinguish the flame of life.

Necron forces of the Nightbringer.

Necron forces of the Deceiver.

The Tyranids, the great devourer. Consuming all in its wake.

The Tau, who fight for the greater good.

The Dark Eldar, a rare sight in recent times, reappear to pillage and enslave from the shadows.

The Deathskullz Orks. Infighting had broken the WAAGH into 2 separate groups, now each plans to krump the other as well as everyone else to prove that they are the best.

LAST to arrive was Daboss' WAAGH, who crash landed due to spaceship malfunction. While here he decided to krump everyone else for the fun of it.

Alternative Colouring for Nid Army

What do you guys think of this colouring? It's another method i came up with to paint my colour scheme.

Base coat for both the skin and the carapace is done with Iyanden Darksun. Carapace was then washed with 2 thick applications of badab black. When dried the edge markings were added in with more iyanden darksun. The skin was done by applying a general wash coat of thraka green over the Iyanden darksun basecoat, then washed again with badab black and finally one more coat of thraka green.

Looks like Wraithguard are consider troops instead of elites! So aside from Guardian, Range, Dire Avenger and Guardian Jetbikers, Wraithguards are consider as troops.

And they can run!

Basil's 40k Tips

Ok so we had a few rounds of 40k to train up Basil and test out our cheeze list. This post is to jot down all the learning points bas has picked up, so there is a one-stop reference point, and as it grows ppl can just edit and add in pointers.

Tips:

1. Placing troops as screens provide a good 4+ cover save, but move the screen away when you want to shoot your deathspitter unit, lest you give the opponent a save too.

2. When in doubt,rush forward. NEVER go forward, then gostan, then go forward, then gostan, you go nowhere...

3. Dont be greedy, focus on one area to attack and ensure victory. Refused Flank should be considered whenever situation arises (i.e. if you have a shooty army deployed across the board, or a enemy in pincer position).

4. You should try to shoot your shooty units every turn, so as to maximise output. If that will put them in danger, give the opponent multiple threats to think about, so as to mitigate the damage.

5. Units can contribute in other ways aside from just damaging - tie up, extra wounds, forcing opponents to rethink their strategy, making an opponent having no choice but to shoot at them.

6. Dont send units piece-meal, send them in supported.

i realise that, perhaps due to 2nd end, i still tend to paint in big, primary colours. While my desert camo orks are less and less of that, i still have those red kommandos, both 2nd and 4th eds, that i really need to put away.

Looking at those ork armies at the tourney, its high time that i follow suit and develop a army with all the same theme and a single consistent colour across all units. No more 'but this unit is black' and accompanying fluff to justify. At most, that can only get away with 1 unit, and probably the warboss's unit.

The weekend onslaught of of trading gauss fire for lascannon, melta bombs and power weapon strikes saw 1 Massacre (kena phase out) and 2 wins for the Deceiver.

Ancient nemesis (Dark Eldar) proved great difficulty with
2 Ravager (Skimmer) each armed with 3 Disintegrators (24-36" S8, AP2 - heavy 3 or heavy 1 Blast)
7 Raiders (Skimmer) each with a Darklance (36" S8 AP 2) which are also able to be fielded by troops

However in bitter defeat, the Deceiver gain level through his tactical use of misdirection. Like an illusionist, he charges into battle to take initiative strike and leaves combat in the opponents turn - opponent can only make consolidation move - and misdirected units are left open to gauss cannon fire.

In my tourney, i had no choice but to play refused flank all the way. Abdullah did the strategic move of just abandoning his flank and driving away with the rest of his IG. perfect textbook, thumbs up to abdullah.

SPORECON '09 was a blast! My return to the local tournament scene after a 2 yr hiatus. As we await our group's official report by the herb... i'm motivated for the next tournament with the theme of: Do You Smell the Cheeeeeeese*...

*Cheese: Warhammer terminology used to describe power gaming that often illicit shock & awe / string of profanities / jaw dropping disbelief / combination of all of the above.

I shall initiate Project: Cheese with a quick list. inspired by some cheese events today: From the Chaos Space Marine Codex

- Daemon Prince of Slaanesh; Wings, Lash of Submission (counter assault)
- 2x 10 Noisemarines; sonic blaster; powerfist; Rhino (autonomous all rounder)

Tactic: Prince will make u walk to kill zone; noise marine can unleash 40 - 60 bolter shots (assault or heavy) & a truckload of death from obliterators... Cheese or what?

Story is meant to be a Dark Angel Fallen who has turned to slaanesh; the older Pre-heresy Jetbike a take at a 'modern' chariot...

Death to the Dark Angels as shown on the base; continued corruption of his armour and the daemon sword which he wields!...

WIP: The Purple People Eater

Thought I'd come up with a new name since it isn't officially a RED terror anymore. And since no such model exists in the current rules, I decided to paint it close to a hive fleet leviathan colour scheme coz it has purple in it! So this model is just for fun though i think i could sub it for a ravener if need be. Kudos to Ju as his Slaanesh daemon prince was the main inspiration/catalyst for me to paint this up.

Bone plates are painted in base coat cold grey, washed with purple/red/blue wash, then thinly watered down tentacle pink followed by red wash again.

Skin is base coat liche purple, drybrush + layered with watered down bleached bone, washed with purple wash, layered watered down bleached bone again, then orgryn flesh wash thinly over the skin with emphasis on the crevices, and a final drybrush+ watered down layer of bleached bone with a bit of skull white in it. Excessive I know... but it was trial and error on my part in order to get the skin tone to what i wanted.

Exposed groves are tentacle pink washed with purple then red wash. Inside of mouth is base coat liche purple, layered with watered down bleached bone, red wash, then dry brushed bleached bone.

Basing was done with the concept of the model coming out of the ground... but i'm not sure if the slate pieces are placed wrongly. (i.e. jutting outwards instead of inwards).

Unfinished parts are the painting of the base, the 4 arms which have yet to be painted and stuck on, the highlighting of the black claws, and ardcoat in the mouth area.

I'm quite pleased with this piece so far... though i think I need more improvement of areas such as highlighting/layering a smooth surface in watered down layers of bleached bone/skull white.

When this is done, it can join my broodlord as the next badass looking model :p

P.S. Think i should add any extra stuff? slime trail or drooling problem like the aliens in the movie. :p

Soul Grinder and Defiler...

I present the Soul Grinder. A kitbash design that was conceived about 2yrs ago when i was studying in the Netherlands, it was meant to be a chaos defiler of tzeentch. But I decided i could use it as a soul grinder as well for a chaos daemon army...

The overall kitbash defiler/soulgrinder; a defiler kit (claws and legs) and a dark eldar talos body. The platform is actually the defiler turret body (placed side by side to make a platform)...

The rider/pilot is a ushabti from the tomb kings fantasy range... with some other bits and greenstuff robes, its now the daemonic sorcerer that stands atop the steel beast...

Highlights of the detailing; the all-seeing eye and loads of weathering/battledamage. That's probably why i took so long to finish this fella!...

Deffkorps Luttewaffe

Decided my theme would be a Deffkorps army - Luttewaffe (airforce) division.

Gonna have a lot of urban trench coats and gas masks, symbolic of the death korps of krieg armies. Then trying to shape the army to be a luttewaffe division, to seperate meself from all those deffkorp ork armies already out there. I will be stormboy heavy (thx for the presents guys), with deffkoptas with larger landing pads, so i can load up grots with rokkits on the landing pads. Make it look like a heli-carrier.

On the ground, foot-troops will be german grey uniform, with only kommisars and ONE elite unit dressed in all gloss black SS-uniform (think hellboy). This one unit would be the SS unit (currently it is flash git grots, but they are looking too weedy to be it).

Warboss, dunno yet. Am thinking he be a a) kolonel b) Kaptin (Drillboss Stormboy warboss kaptin), or c) Da Luttewaffle (a warboss with waffle on head) lol

In the midst of work..........thunder strike.......i dun have enough firepower in my list and that the night bringer is overated (hummmed the Deceiver)

Although the rationale to bring the Nightbringer (NB) is to counter any big creatures and gasthly foes (like ju's) which are monstrous and a clean swipe at vehicles, the NB still moves 6".

Back to the tournament prep and i did up my objective markers. Themed it with my army and tried to tell a little story...

The slaanesh marker; essential a small daemon i took from the lord kit and added a eldar rune from the basing kit. Attempted to do a object source lighting from the broken eldar rune. The story here is the eternal struggle between Slaanesh and the Eldar as their ancient enemies...

The nurgle marker; a nurgling with the broken sword of st. Celestine model. I wanted to do a crawling corruption, representing it on the ground and the corrosion of the sword... the decaying flowers and the rusting blade, the ground seeps with decay where the corruption has 'broken' through the sword...

The Tzeentch marker; book from Master of Ravenwing model. This one was the easiest of the lot. Essential a book of forbidden knowledge...

2nd trukk done

some old pics on my trukk. i have since added tracks. This time it is a left-sided door-in-ur-face trukk (counts as wrecking ball/boarding plank/grabba klaw, cool huh.
also the first time ive tried bending plasticard. i wanted to stick the jerry can with an 'iron bar' look. so read up on some sites and decided to heat up the plasticard, then press to a ready mold to bend it into shape. First one failed (plasticard burn like paper, so dun let fire touch it...)

The colour scheme is kept to purple; the armour having a chaos black wash over a washed warlock purple to create a almost black hue. The rest is shining gold with red washed claws. All that's left now is the soul grinder & Herald of Slaanesh...

The herald of Tzeentch is done! Attempted to do object source lighting though not very successful; too ambitious an attempt and probably too complicated for me...

The colour scheme and concept have materialised as i wanted it. I've left out painting a symbol/image on the back of the cloak, shall not attempt too much on the model as it is. Initially wanted to paint a tzeentch symbol on the cloak but i think the imagery is telling of tzeentch already...

Back from the GW store and a converting i go. Using bitz from the lord & daemonette kit... i present the Daemon Prince of Slaanesh in blue tac...

Lightning claws for the 'rending' look that is dominating for the slaanesh faction and a slithering snake body; ties in well with the head with tongue which is actually from the horn of the daemonette musician. Bottom pics are side view; right one is with the arm remove to view the torso side on...
